Built From the Ground Up in Austin
Marcus Webb started Voltage Electric Co. in 2008 with a used service truck, a Texas master electrician's license he'd spent four years earning, and a belief that Austin homeowners deserved better than the industry standard of vague quotes, no-show appointments, and bills that didn't match the estimate.
The first few years were lean. Marcus did everything himself — answering the phone, driving to jobs, pulling permits, doing the work, and writing the invoices. What set him apart from the beginning was a refusal to cut corners. Every panel he replaced got a permit. Every circuit he added was the right gauge wire. Every job site got cleaned up before he left.
Word spread. By 2013, Marcus had hired his first two electricians. By 2018, Voltage Electric had grown to a team of eight — all licensed, all background-checked, all trained under Marcus's direct supervision. The company has now completed more than 1,200 jobs across the Austin metro area, from small ceiling fan installs in Hyde Park bungalows to full electrical build-outs for commercial tenants in the Domain.
"We're not trying to be the biggest electrical company in Austin. We're trying to be the one people call back — and the one they tell their neighbors about."
— Marcus Webb, Founder & Master Electrician
Today, Voltage Electric serves 12 cities across the Austin metro area. Marcus still takes jobs himself and reviews every permit submittal personally. The team has grown, but the standards haven't changed.
